According to textbooks and websites, design history is the study
of objects of design in their historical and stylistic contexts. But to me, design
history is like a fantasy that have been written in the past few hundreds or
even thousands of years earlier for our future generations to understand what
is design and the important events occurred in the early design industry. It
teaches us where all the design product (e.g sewing machine) came from and how they revolved from the most simple object to the ones we use now, and also the designers who created them. Design history is also a timeline to me that
tells a lot of different stories for every certain year and it's
importance. Design history contains the most fabulous, famous and
successful designers in the world, and it tells you their life and everything
about them. Overall, design history is about all the important events happened
in the early years and the stories of the successful designers.
